KY Derby

I had last year’s winner, so let’s keep it up. Those who follow me know I don’t ever make exotic racing bets. I bet to win only. I am making two bets to win today.

#1 Dornoch

If he gets out of the gate clean, gets a good trip at the helm and can back off the second half, he can wire the field. That’s even more true if Dornoch doesn’t have to duel TO Password early. If he’s up at 1/8 pole he hangs on. Most underrated colt here. A good start is key. If he’s shuffled back it’s over. Must get out fast.

#17 Fierceness

This is the best and fastest colt In the race. My concern is his post position and having to come off the pace to circle a talented field to win. He’ll need a perfect trip. He’s also a head case. Wins one, loses one, wins one. He’s up and down. Laid back, he needs to get stoked today and come out with grit. If he feals like racing today, he wins.

Angels (+120) at Cleveland

I like the Angels’ Reid Detmers tonight! He’s quietly turning into one of MLB’s best left-handed starting pitchers.

The 24 year-old left-hander continues to fly under the radar as he’s currently one of the best young starters in the game. He’s posted a solid 3.12 ERA, which ranks fourth-best in baseball among pitchers with 30+ innings pitched this season who are age 25 years-old and under.

For Cleveland, I’m not a Ben Lively believer. He started in the season at Triple-A. He’s made three so-so starts. The Angels hit a lot of homers on the road. Lively is a fly ball pitcher. Dingers galore. 

Pick: Angels (+120)

White Sox at Cards (-185)

Lance Lynn has something to prove tonight for St. Louis. He was once the South Siders’ ace. His fastball still has life and I look for a real strong outing tonight. I have no issue with -185 here. Chicago wins one game a week.

Mets (Even) at Rays

It’s rookie sensation Christian Scott night for the Mets! I can’t wait! 

Scott has become a dominant pitcher over the past two years in the minor leagues, posting the best K to BB percentage in the minors over two seasons. Can you say Dwight Gooden?

The Rays’ middle relief corps has been even worse than Houston. At 15-18, they have a negative 41 run differential rate. Guess what? They’ve done that while playing the softest schedule in MLB in April.

Tampa’s Zack Littell comes in with six starts, all against bottom-feeder offenses. The Mets hit. A lot! This kid could be epic!

NHL HOCKEY BOMB💣

Leafs at Boston (-140)

Oh my! The Boston Bruins have posted the best regular season record in the NHL the past two years combined. 

It’s gotten them nothing.

They blew a 3-1 series lead in round one last season to a chum catfish bunch and now here they are again! Up 3-1, they played like crap: blew an OT game at the Garden, then got iced in Canada. 

This is a veteran Boston team. What will it take? 

Toronto has also had its fair share of recent playoff collapses. Bruins on the brink.

Someone will erase the demons tonight!
