Paul’s Picks: Penn State, Oklahoma State and More

The Heater

I had an awesome Saturday last week, going 4-1 against the spread. I covered in some big markee games like Tennessee vs. Alabama, Oak St vs. TCU, and USC vs. Utah.  My formula is simple: stick with winning teams that show good value with the current lines.  This week, I like Penn State, Oklahoma State, and more in another Saturday slate of tasty in-conference rivals.

Virginia Cavaliers at Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (-3.5) (o/u 48)

Kickoff: Thursday, Oct. 20, 7:30 pm EST on ESPN

Georgia Tech is -3 at home vs. Virginia this Thursday. Neither team is that good, but there seems to be a resurgence happening for the Yellow Jackets with their new coach.  The Cavaliers are a terrible team with less talent than your high school squad.  This just looks like a good value play.  Pick: Yellow Jackets -3.5

#20 Texas Longhorns at #11 Oklahoma State Cowboys (+6) (o/u 60.5)

Kickoff: Saturday, Oct. 22, 3:30 pm EST on ABC

This line looks fishy. The Cowboys are at home, boast a more impressive record, are ranked higher, and they just lost at TCU in OT.  I liked the Cowboys last week and they covered the entire game for me.  This week I like them even more, getting 6.5 at home after a tough loss.  Pick: Cowboys +6

Wisconsin Badgers at Purdue Boilermakers (+2.5) (o/u 51.5)

Kickoff: Saturday, Oct. 22, 3:30 pm EST on fuboTV (stream)

Purdue won on the road last week. They beat Maryland and Minnesota and lost with seven seconds left at Syracuse.  The Boilermakers have played a tough schedule and continue to surprise. I love the points here against a Badger team that has seen some woes and worries. Pick: Boilermakers +2.5

#16 Penn State Nittany Lions at Minnesota Golden Gophers (+4.5) (o/u 44.5)

Kickoff: Saturday, Oct. 22, 7:30 pm EST on ABC

The Lions are back home licking their wounds after a tough loss on the road against an excellent Michigan team ranked 5th in the nation. The Gophers are a good team, but the Lions are a very good team. I don’t see the Penn State losing two in a row here.  Pick: Lions -3.5

#25 Tulane Green Wave at Memphis Tigers (+7) (o/u 55.5)

Kickoff: Saturday, Oct. 22, 3:30 pm EST on ESPN

Well, I am a believer concerning the Green Wave. They’re a very good team and should roll over the Tigers and the rest of the AAC this year.  The Wave is now ranked #25. they just has better statistics in all key positions than the Tigers, and they beat Kansas State.  I see a 14 point win here.  Pick: Green Wave -7
