We’re BACK! We took a little mental break for a couple of days to focus on the Astros series against the Rangers, and the trade deadline. We now know eight things:
- The Angels are buyers
- The White Sox are conducting a liquidation sale complete with BOGO! Buy one, get one free!
- The Mets are sellers and Steve Cohen is a dumpster fire (you’re not on Wall Street anymore, Mr. hedge funder)
- The Marlins are buyers
- The Dodgers are buyers of starters with 7.00 ERA’s
- The Cubs are clueless
- The D-Backs are chokers
- The Padres are the best team money can’t buy
So our last picks on Monday went 1-2 and we lost $160, putting us at plus +$480 on the season. As you know, I love FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS in MLB! Go Big Or Go Home!

Phillies at Pirates (+150)
Well, Anne and I are moving to Pittsburgh in two weeks so I better bet these losers, or it’s bad Karma. The Phillies have won three of four, but getting Mitch Keller at home at +150 is too good to pass-up! News Flash: Like the Reds, the Phillies are perpetually over valued by Vegas. The Pirates have revived themselves from the dumpster, winners of four of seven! LOL that’s over .500! They have averaged 4.57 runs a game in that stretch. World beaters!
This is a hunch bet: Keller has gotten bombed two games in a row, allowing an eye-popping 14 earned runs in 11 innings. All the metrics scream Phillies. Uh-huh.

Yanks at O’s (+120)
I have bet Gerrit Cole every start this season. Time to abandon. Why? The Orioles are at home and they are going to win the A.L. East. After dropping two in a row in Philadelphia – its boomerang time!
The Birds are 8.0 games ahead of the Yankees, who sit in last place in the division. This Baltimore bunch of kids is for real. The Yard will be rocking tonight! Cole is Cole, but the Birds’ Grayson Rodriguez is no slouch at home, and his metrics are better than his ERA shows. O’s make a statement this weekend, just like they did last weekend in St. Pete.

 Angels at Jays (-195)
I love Toronto at home tonight. The Halos just played a twin-bill and flew into Canada late last night.
This is Lucas Giolito’s first start as an Angel after getting shipped out of hapless fire sale Chicago’s south side. Lots of pressure.
Note the Blue Jays got to the park early today when they saw Giolito was starting. They bash the guy. Toronto has kicked him around for 22 hits and 15 earned runs the last three times they faced him. Yikes.
The Blue Jay’s Kevin Gausman has been Toronto’s ace: 3.18 ERA and 1.12 WHIP.
Gausmen is the also the A.L.’s K leader, while the Angels are fourth in the MLB in striking out. Lots of whiffs coming the Jay’s way tonight.
Tampa Bay at Houston (EVEN)
Hi Jose Altuve. Hello Yordan Alvarez. Good to have you both back. Where else am I going here? Tampa Bay is a disaster right now, losers of eight of ten and their July has been a nightmare.
Shane McClananan has not been the same since a brief injury he sustained in early July. The Astros look hungry…and angry.

 Cleveland (-140) at White Sox
Chicago just dumped half their team in a major garage sale. They’re liquidating, and just traded Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly to the Dodgers, days after jettisoning Lucas Giolito to the Angels,  They’ve lost six straight and eight of 10. Not exactly a motivated group tonight. Oh, what could have been. But it’s not.
Cleveland, on the flip side, is 1.5 games back after reeling off three wins in a row. Watch out Twinkies!
