Golden State Warriors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Regular Season Stats & Betting Trends

Warriors Looking For Fifth Straight Road Win

The Golden State Warriors were defeated by the Phoenix Suns 108-104 on opening night. But since that time, they have reeled off five consecutive victories. This includes a 141-139 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night. Stephen Curry paced the Warriors’ scoring attack with 30 points on 9-for-15 shooting from the field and 5-for-10 from beyond the arc.

In addition to being on a five-game winning streak, it should be noted that the Warriors are a perfect 4-0 on the road this season. This is quite the turnaround for a team that won just 11 road games last season.

Cavaliers Hoping To End 16-Game Losing Streak Against Warriors

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers are trending in the opposite direction. Following a 114-113 win over the Brooklyn Nets on opening night, the Cavaliers have dropped four of their last five contests. This includes a 121-116 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday night. Donovan Mitchell scored a game-high 39 points along with nine assists, and five rebounds.

The Cavaliers are ranked 28th in scoring and 26th in efficiency. And they are a middle-of-the-pack team at best from a defensive standpoint. That said, it looks like the Warriors have more than an outside chance to continue their dominance over Cleveland.

The Picks

The Spread

The Cleveland Cavaliers are a 1.5-point favorite to win this contest. Here is why I am picking the Warriors to cover here.

  • The Warriors are a perfect 7-0 ATS against the Cavaliers in their last seven head-to-head matchups.
  • Golden State is 8-0 ATS in their last eight road games against Cleveland.
  • In their last five games, the Warriors are 4-1 ATS against Eastern Conference opponents.
  • The Cavaliers are 1-8 ATS in their last nine games.
  • Cleveland is 3-6 ATS in its last nine contests against Pacific Division teams.

Prediction: Golden State Warriors (-1.5)

Over/Under

The projected over/under total for this matchup opened at 226 points. That line has moved to 220.5. Here are a few trends that suggest why going with the OVER is the smart play.

  • The OVER total has hit for Golden State in each of its last six matchups against Eastern Conference teams.
  • The OVER total has prevailed in Golden State’s last six games that were played in November.
  • In Cleveland’s last seven times against Western Conference teams, The OVER total prevailed five times.

Prediction: OVER 220.5 points

Player Prop Bet

My key player to watch in this contest is Stephen Curry. He currently has -115 odds of scoring more than 29.5 points and -120 odds of scoring less than 29.5 points.

Curry has put up 30-plus points in three of his previous five outings.  Also, he is averaging 30.8 points per contest this season.  With that in mind, I am going with the OVER for Curry.

Prediction: Stephen Curry OVER 29.5 points

James’s Picks

Spread: Warriors (-1.5)

Over/Under: OVER 220.5 points

PPB: Stephen Curry Over 29.5 points
