Friday Nightcap: Oregon State-Washington Preview and Pick

All right, Nate here to get your weekend started off right with a little nightcap winner to head into Saturday with a little extra scratch in our accounts.

I’m often loathe to bet on a ranked team that is a betting underdog to an unranked team. It’s just a classic scenario where the bookmaker is begging you to bet on the ranked underdog, and usually there’s a good reason for that. The AP poll is basically worthless for the purposes of predicting games, yet that’s how many people evaluate teams.

This situation is a little bit different though.

Oregon State isn’t eye-popping in any one category offensively, but they do everything pretty well both rushing and passing. Oregon State has a legitimately good product this year and I’ve been on them a couple times throughout the season as an underdog and I’m going back to the well here.

Washington has been ridiculous on offense, but the Beavers should be able to hold their own defensively against them.

Additionally, the weather in Seattle is probably going to be pretty crappy. Cold, windy and possibly rainy. Washington excels when Penix, Jr. is throwing the ball all over the yard, but the combination of weather and Oregon State’s defense could hold him in check.

Washington has won games in shootouts because their defense is a liability.

This line just feels silly to me. Maybe I’m a sucker, but I’ll take the points. Pick: Oregon State +4.5
